THE ROAD HOME HOSTS OPEN HOUSE EVENTS IN CENTRAL AND NORTH LOUISIANA
BATON ROUGE, La., March 28, 2007 - The Road Home program will host open house events in central and north Louisiana to promote the opening of the Alexandria and Shreveport Mobile Housing Assistance Centers. The events will be held on Monday, April 2nd in Alexandria and on Wednesday, April 4 in Shreveport. Both events will run from 6 to 9 pm. These events will provide opportunities for Louisiana homeowners affected by Hurricane Katrina or Rita to receive information about The Road Home and fill out an application or make appointments at any one of the housing assistance centers or mobile centers. Homeowners are encouraged to attend one of the events to meet with Road Home staff and receive more details about the application and closing process
Applicants of The Road Home are encouraged to schedule their appointments as soon as possible to take advantage of these mobile centers. The Alexandria mobile center will be open from April 10-14 and located at 1410 Neel Kearby Blvd. The Shreveport center will open on April 16-21 and will be located at 400 Caddo Street.
Homeowners who have not yet applied to the program can start their applications by visiting www.road2LA.org or by calling 1.888.ROAD.2.LA (1.888.762.3252) or TTY: 1.800.566.4224.
Louisiana residents currently residing in central and north Louisiana who have applied to the program, but have yet to schedule their first appointments may do so by calling 1.888.ROAD.2.LA and choosing prompt #4. Homeowners who have made appointments at another center have the option to reschedule those appointments at the Alexandria or Shreveport locations by calling that number.

The Road Home program is designed to provide compensation to Louisiana homeowners affected by Hurricane Katrina or Rita for the damage to their homes. This groundbreaking program represents the largest single housing recovery program in U.S. history. Working together, Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, the Louisiana Recovery Authority and the Office of Community Development created The Road Home program with the approval of the Louisiana Legislature. The program affords eligible homeowners up to $150,000 in compensation for their losses to get back into their homes.
