The Road Home participates in Navigating The Road to Recovery

BATON ROUGE, La. October 18, 2006 -  This weekend homeowners will have the opportunity to learn more about their housing recovery options at the NeighborWorks and FDIC’s Navigating The Road to Recovery - Homeowner Information Session. The Road Home will also be in attendance to answer questions and to help homeowners better understand their housing recovery options through The Road Home program. The events, held this Saturday, October 21st in Baton Rouge, and Sunday, October 22nd and Monday, October 23rd in New Orleans, will aid homeowners in learning how to access compensation for their losses, connect with community resources, safeguard their financial interests, and make informed decisions as they navigate through the recovery processes.

The FDIC and NeighborWorks America have developed a comprehensive homeowner guide for families affected by the 2005 hurricanes. The guide is entitled, "Navigating the Road to Housing Recovery" and its key focus is to provide vital information for families' rebuilding efforts. The first of a series of homeowner information sessions was launched October 18 in conjunction with The Road Home program. This groundbreaking program represents the largest single housing recovery program in U.S. history. Working together, Governor Blanco, the Louisiana Recovery Authority, and the Office of Community Development created The Road Home Program to afford eligible homeowners up to $150,000 in compensation to get back into their homes.
