MOBILE HOUSING ASSISTANCE CENTER OPENS IN DALLAS/FT. WORTH

BATON ROUGE, La., March 12, 2007 – Beginning today, The Road Home is scheduling appointments at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Mobile Housing Assistance Center, program officials announced. The center will be open from March 12 through March 21 at the Ruthe Jackson Center, at 3113 S. Carrier Pkwy., Grand Prairie, Texas 75052.  Homeowners are encouraged to call The Road Home today to schedule appointments at this temporary location.

The center’s purpose is to bring The Road Home’sservices to Louisiana residents in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area who otherwise would have a difficult time applying to the program and moving through the application process.

“We are dedicated to bringing Louisiana citizens home, and we are removing barriers in order to accomplish this task.” said Michael Taylor, director of the Disaster Recovery Unit, Office of Community Development. “It’s important for us to travel to areas that have large concentrations of homeowners that were displaced by the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. We want to make every effort to make sure that these homeowners are able to attend their appointments and move through the process.”

Louisiana residents currently residing in the Dallas-Forth Worth area or other parts of  Texas who have applied to the program but have yet to schedule appointments may do so by calling 1-888-ROAD-2-LA and choosing prompt #4. Homeowners who have made appointments at a Louisiana Center have the option to reschedule those appointments at the Dallas/Ft. Worth location by also calling that number.

Additionally, any homeowner who has yet to apply to the program can start the application process by visiting www.road2LA.org or by calling 1-888-ROAD-2-LA (1-888-762-3252 or TTY: 1-800-566-4224).

The Road Home program is designed to help residents of Louisiana affected by Hurricane Katrina or Rita get back into their homes as quickly and fairly as possible.  This groundbreaking program represents the largest single housing recovery program in U.S. history. Working together, Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, the Louisiana Recovery Authority and the Office of Community Development created The Road Home program with the approval of the Louisiana Legislature. The program affords eligible homeowners up to $150,000 in compensation for their losses to get back into their homes.

To start your application to The Road Home program, visit www.road2LA.org or call 1-888-ROAD-2-LA (1-888-762-3252). TTY callers use 711 relay or 1-800-846-5277.
