The Road Home program
The Road Home program is designed to provide compensation to Louisiana homeowners affected by Hurricanes Katrina or Rita for the damage to their homes. The Road Home program is the largest single housing recovery program in U.S. history. The program’s objective is to provide compensation to Louisiana homeowners affected by Hurricanes Katrina or Rita for the damage to their homes. To that end, The Road Home offers the following:
- For homeowners: Eligible homeowners affected by Hurricanes Rita or Katrina may receive up to $150,000 in compensation for your losses to get you back into your homes. The Road Home also provides assistance to homeowners who are rebuilding, relocating – or still trying to decide. Services include topics ranging from Road Home application assistance to information on the recovery process throughout the state.
- For small-scale rental property owners: The Road Home Small Rental Property program provides loans and incentive grants to property owners who operate affordable rental homes. The Rental program aims to restore the tens of thousands of rental units that were damaged by the storms.
- For building professionals: The Road Home offers building professionals training and design and construction resources to assist Road Home applicants. The program also encourages building professionals to list their businesses on the Professional Rebuilding Registry, a match-making service for property owners and building professionals and a clearinghouse for educational and community resources related to the program.
